Purpose and Mission
Cornerstone Baptist Church is a unified body of Christian families
that exists to promote the will of God through:
* EXPOSITORY preaching
* EVANGELISTIC outreach
* EXALTATION of the triune Godhead
* EDIFICATION of the saints.
We believe Cornerstone to be an upward looking, outward looking, and
inward looking church. We look upward in that we believe all
ministries should bring glory to our Heavenly Father and His Son, the
Lord Jesus Christ. We look outward in that we believe Cornerstone
should be evangelistically intensive – and we don't just believe it,
we do it! And we look inward because we believe the church should also
edify the saints so that they might do the work of the ministry. These
reasons drive our purpose and mission statements.

About Our Name
Cornerstone is significant because Jesus Christ is the
Chief Cornerstone at Cornerstone Baptist Church. He is elect of God
and precious to this body of believers (1 Peter 2:6). God brought this
assembly together to exalt Jesus Christ, the Chief Cornerstone- the
One whose death and resurrection gives us peace with God and the hope
of heaven. You will find that the chief Cornerstone is the emphasis of
every ministry and expression of worship here.
Baptist is likewise significant. It implies certain
distinctives which identify our assembly from other Christian groups
or denominations.
Church, however, is vital because of its absolute and
total uniqueness. While "Cornerstone" and "Baptist" were our choice in
defining who we are, "Church" was mandated by God- as revealed in His
Word. "Church" is God's designation for the assembly of people called
by His name. Therefore, our course has been charted by God; our
destiny has been planned by God; our members have been chosen by God;
and our purposes have been defined by God.

Distinctives of Cornerstone
Praising. Colossians 1:16-18 makes it clear that Jesus Christ is the
head of all things, that in all things He should have the preeminence,
and that it pleases God the Father that in Him all fullness dwells. We
highly value the principle of solus Christus (Christ alone). Christ's
doing and dying are alone our basis for acceptance with God. This is
also the basis for fellowship with Him in the Holy Spirit. All
fellowship with God must be Christ-centered. Therefore, praising Jesus
Christ is at the center of all we do, every time we gather. Praising
our Lord through worshipful music, sacrificial giving, and faithful
preaching is our highest expression of thanks and love toward the One
Who saved us.
Preaching. 2 Timothy 3:16 declares the Bible as God's Word to man for
doctrine, reproof, correction, and instruction. We highly value the
principle of sola Scriptura (Scripture only). We will not preach,
teach, command, or practice anything contrary to the written
Scriptures of the biblical canon. Scripture is the only source and
norm for all distinctly Christian knowledge. We man learn the source
of truth concerning the grace of God, the nature of man, the character
of God, salvation through faith alone in Christ alone, and the hope of
heaven. Declaring Scripture's truth is our highest privilege as
Christ's ambassadors.
Practicing. Psalm 29:2 clearly teaches that we live, breathe, and have
our being to give glory to the Lord through a holy life. Glory cannot
be given from a dirty vessel. Therefore, we value church membership,
evangelization of a world in need of grace, spiritual development of
the church body, servant leadership by those with leadership gifts,
and personal involvement in missions. People who have been called away
from the power and penalty of sin and are serving Jesus Christ and His
church with a broken n contrite heart are the greatest testimony of
God's work.

What We Believe
We believe in the verbal
inspiration and authority of the scriptures.
We believe that the Bible reveals God, the fall of man, the way of
salvation, and God's plan and purpose in the ages.
We believe in God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
We believe in the deity, virgin birth, and bodily resurrection of
Jesus Christ.
We believe that salvation is by grace plus nothing and minus nothing.
The conditions of salvation are repentance and faith
We believe in the visible, personal, and premillennial return of Jesus
Christ.
We believe in the everlasting conscious blessedness of the saved and
the everlasting conscious punishment of the lost
